For more than three decades, Dr. Coles has been actively working as a professor, researcher, and independent international consultant in different fields of social, economic, and environmental development. Have conducted significant work on GIS-based analysis; Fieldwork Methodology; Survey Research Methodology and Management; Evaluation Research; Policy Research and Policy Advisory, all within the framework of Land Resources, Sustainable Development, Conservation, and Risk and Disaster Analysis.
At FSU-Panama, Dr. Coles is a Professor of Geography and Environmental Sciences, January 2005 to present. Director of the Urban Risk Center (URC) at FSU-Panama, October 2018 to present ( www.urbanriskcenter.org. )
At this academic center has taught the following courses: Geographic Information Systems; Map Analysis; Environmental Conflict and Economic Development; Introduction to Environmental Sciences; Living in a Hazardous Environment, Globalization in Latin America; Urban Issues in Panama; and Economic Geography; Biodiversity and Peri-Urban Spaces.
